Cables 3D - Under Construction
INTRODUCTION
In the field of installation
engineering for Railway, Metro, and Tram systems, the advent of BIM
(Building Information Modeling) technology requires a revision of the
approach to the optimal sizing of the electrical network applicable to
railway entities and all necessary equipment for the operation of the
entire system.
THE PRODUCT
Elecom Srl's study and the product under development aim to
create software capable of automatically routing the cables required to
power a Railway, Metro, and/or Tram system.
The software, currently in development, will be implemented as an extension of Revit – a 3D commercial software by Autodesk, for which we are certified ADN developers.
TheCables-3D tool involves:
A phase to import cable types associated with entities (fixed data);
A design phase for cable trays/runs applicable to an existing 3D civil BIM drawing;
A phase for designing or importing devices (actuators on the station platform, cabins, cabinets, etc.);
A feature for the automatic cable routing generation, selecting the best cable path based on the following criteria:
The shortest path;
No exceeding the cable run fill percentage (physical or contractual);
Compatibility between cables (EMI – electromagnetic interference);
Every choice made by the tool is communicated and confirmed or modified by the designer.
