Validation and verification system for a railway station design – second channel
INTRODUCTION
In the context of Interlocking System (ACC), “which
is the heart of station and railway line control because it ensures,
from a single control cabin, the correct positioning of the station
entities affected by a train's passage”, we can identify two essential documents:

The schematic plan – an
unscaled representation of the tracks and all station entities based on
the station's layout. The Schematic Plan is a common reference document
for the safety operation and maintenance sectors.

Control Tables
– paper documents that describe, according to specific regulations, the
conditions necessary to allow trains and rolling stock to enter and
move within the station. The Control Tables complement the Station
Schematic Plan and are attached to it.
The production process of an Interlocking/ACC device is divided into four main phases, as shown below:
THE PRODUCT
The product designed and developed by Elecom S.r.l. to verify this design process is described below:
The TdCV&V tool is used
in the Verification and Validation phase of the ACC design (Centralized
Control System), which is the new electronic system that controls train
circulation.
The TdCV&V tool generates the "second channel" Condition Tables, adhering to the railway regulations issued by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana s.p.a., and it works as follows:
The result of comparison between:
The Control Tables generated during the Interlocking/ACC design phase;
and
The Control Tables generated by the TdCV&V tool, in a completely independent environment;validates the "Control Tables" documentation produced during the Design phase, allowing the transition to the next phase of Implementation and Activation.
